Happy Monday, everyone! I'm partnering this week with the Beauty Schools of America to bring you this hair trend report. My mission: the braided updo.

Just coming off of summer, braids are still really big right now. This updo was created by my BSA stylist in a total of 15 minutes, and she did such a stunning job.

First she left the front pieces (and a few in the back for an "undone" look) of my hair loose to create the waves later. To create the side braid, she started from the crown and pulled hair from the opposite side of my head to keep the look in place without having to use a million bobby pins. She twisted the braid into a low bun and then pinned the bun in place. After pinning, she curled the loose pieces and used hairspray to hold everything in place.

As the night when on the curls got looser and more romantic, and I made sure to toss them around a bit myself to create a softer look to the hairstyle. The darker makeup also contrasted the romantic look, which was perfect for a night out at the theatre.

Let me know: how do you like to incorporate braids into your looks?
