Holiday Dressing... Without Being Tacky
Another holiday look? Already?
Yup! I just can't help myself. With the subtle reds and greens in this look, it helps prevent me from looking like a walking Christmas tree... or Mrs. Claus. Neither or which is cute, or stylish. Plus the slit in this skirt is sexy without being too in-your-face about it.
And. These. Manolos. I just can't. Next to my Miu Miu booties they're my favorite heels that I own... and my first of two designer shoe purchases in the last year. Moving on up!
Style Notes and Outfit Details
Tops via Express and Forever 21 // This plaid Portofino is so sheer that I need to have a tank underneath it. It's actually not my favorite combination, even though it looks really nice. I think next time I'm just going to go with straight-up flannel. I don't like how many layers are involved in this top situation when I can do it easily with just one top.
Skirt via Macy's (similar) // Comfy, pretty, sexy. Pretty much perfect. This skirt has last me through my fall capsule and will definitely get worked in to winter as well.
Shoes via Manolo Blahnik // This designer is Carrie Bradshaw's favorite for a reason, but I'm going to tell you now that these are NOT walking heels. A little bit of meandering, fine, but if you plan on spending all day in a shoe, Manolos are not the right pick. These are just perfect for walking around a holiday party for a few hours, then heading home and rocking some cozy socks.
Clutch via Vintage (similar) // I got this red clutch from my grandmother, and I always use it to either pair with other reds or add a pop of color to a look. In this case, it brings out the red of the top.
Sunglasses via Ray-Ban // Muh faves. As you already know. How can I ever say no to these wayfarers?
Necklace c/o Kendra Scott (also love this one!) // Kendra Scott knows how to make a statement, and this choker is no exception. I love the gems on the end, and just how tough it makes the whole look. Since the overall feel of this outfit is pretty feminine, I needed my edgy piece to make it feel like me.
Bracelets gifted and via Nordstrom // This cuff has been my standby for the last, oh, six years? It always adds a little edge, just like the necklace. I also got this David Yurman look-alike from an antique shop in New York, and it's such a staple in my closet that I always seem to turn to it when I want to class up a look.
Earrings are gifted (also love these) // A great dangling pair is a must, and these are the perfect neutral for an otherwise colorful outfit.
