Dress: Forever 21. Shoes: Franco Sarto (similar). Bag: Free People (also love this one). Jacket: Gap (similar).
Sunglasses c/o Blue Planet Eyewear.

I don't get to head home very often, so when my father booked flights and a hotel for G and me to fly to Manhattan for the weekend, I couldn't wait! I haven't been back since September 2014, when one of my best friend's got married, and when I went back then I didn't get to spend a lot of time in the city.

This also gave me a great opportunity to flex my capsule collection's muscles. I'm proud to say that I only packed one small backpack for the trip and a single, multifunctional purse. Victory!

After sitting in an airport and a plane for around 10 hours, G and I dropped our bags at Hotel Indigo in the Lower East Side (an AMAZING hotel at a pretty reasonable rate), I made a quick change into this easy little dress and we were off to dinner.

The amazing thing about having a capsule collection is that every piece is really deliberate. You have to look at it and say, "Not only do I love it, but I can also think of a ton of ways that I can wear this piece." It's made getting dressed in the morning about 1000x easier for me, and unless I am deliberately not caring about my outfit, there isn't a single day where I don't feel like I look really good walking out the door.

I think I'm going to create a mini travel guide for you all, so you can try some of the spots I went to in NYC last weekend! Stay tuned.
