All that Glitters: Waiting for the Perfect Investment Piece
I'm going to be really upfront about these Miu Miu booties. I've waited five years for them.
Does that seem crazy? Maybe it is a little, but I think if it's the right piece, waiting is 100% worth it. I know a lot of people will say that you should invest in your wardrobe (which I believe), but why invest more money than you have to? I got these babies at almost 90% off! No, I'm not kidding. All it took was a lot of patience and a pair of super-cheap knock offs to tide me over. That and obsessively checking the internet on the reg. in the hopes of finding the perfect pair at the perfect price.
When I first saw them in Fall 2011 on Jane Aldridge, the blogger behind Sea of Shoes, I knew that they had to be mine. I wanted some ultra-femme color at the time, like the pink and gold combo or the blue and silver, but when I saw these black on black beauties I couldn't help myself. They were perfect, AND they go with everything in my wardrobe. That's exactly what a capsule, and an investment piece, is about. Versatility.
After five years of lusting after them, you better believe it's love.
Style Notes and Outfit Details
Top via Nordstrom // This chambray top has taken me everywhere, and I've had it in every capsule so far. Both on its own and as an outfit topper, I can always count on it to give the perfect casual touch to any look.
Skirt via Unknown (similar) // My mother gave this skirt to me, and it's both unbelievably comfortable while also feeling incredibly dressy. That's a win-win in my book.
Shoes via Miu Miu // What can I say that I haven't already said about these? They're perfection. I also can't wait to rock them during the holidays, where the glitter will feel especially appropriate.
Bag via Kate Spade // Classic. Black. Bag. 'Nough said.
Sunglasses via Ray-Ban // My trusty Ray-Bans, I've had this pair since I was 17, and I'm not letting go of them just yet.
