10 Wardrobe Essentials

 1. Basic Tank

I put tanks under everything sheer. I have three different colors, two tan, two black and two white. I literally can't get enough of this item. It's a must-have. I grabbed mine at Forever 21.

2. Blazer

Blazers are another must-have. I'd start off with a classic black blazer that's perfectly tailored to you, and then delve into other colors. They make any outfit stand out. It just shows that you put a little extra effort when getting dressed in the morning.

3. Skinny Jeans

If you read my blog, you know how much I love my Levi's skinny jeans. I have them in two shades of blue and in black. I found a pair that fit me and I just ran with it. I got mine at the Levi's store, but you can also snag some styles at JCPenney.

4. Button-Down Shirt

Do I even need to clarify this one? Find yourself a button-down that fits your bust, ladies! No gaping allowed. If I can do it, you can. Mine are from Express.

5. Basic Tee

These basic tees from Forever 21 have been my staple for the last year, but I want to find looser-fitting tees. The armpits are a little tight on these ones.

6. Bathing Suit

I like to follow Victoria Beckham's rule of classic colors before moving on to others, and I like to avoid patterns. My go-to bikini is a black bandeau from ASOS. It looks stunning on, and I feel like the most chic person at the pool or beach.

7. Classic Pants

I love pants from J.Crew and LOFT, and you can pair them with tons of tops! Once again, grab them in neutrals before heading off to get colored pants. You'll wear the neutrals forever.

8. Classic Pumps

One pair that matches your skin tone and one in black. Both of mine are from Steve Madden.

9. LBD

This Chanel-approved staple is still a must-have to this day. You can dress it up, dress it down and wear it to the office or on a date. I have a few versions of the LBD, I'm so hooked on them. This wrap-style is from Banana Republic.

10. Pencil Skirt

Pencil skirts are a necessity, and they're so appropriate-yet-sexy! Grab a black pencil skirt, and then venture into other styles. I've got florals, stripes and polka-dot versions along with a summer and winter version of the black pencil skirt. They're my go-to if I don't know what to wear.

Comments

  1. Definitely agreed with you there! I love layering tanks with pretty much everything. (I love that top in the first picture!)

Finding button-downs that don't do the whole boob gap thing can be a real pain though. :[
